Overall a nice hotel. Not a lot of English speakers. The beach is very nice, could be the best in the area.

My 8yr old son and I went to Sol Palmeras for the first time and we loved it! Staff was excellent, food was great and the grounds were fantastic! Can't wait to return

I enjoyed the beach, I could always find something to eat, snacks should be improved. I arrived at 9:30 am and waited all day for my room which was not ready until late evening,, people arrived after me and had their room ready ... check out was noon, courtesty room is available for those who do not lleave until later that evening...what they dont tell you is you have to line up in the never endlng check in line to get a courtesy room, it cannot be reserved ahead of time. Its a very busy hotel...so we did not bother with it.

Nice Hotel located close to the Beach. Good, well maintained Grounds and Pool area. The beach in my opinion was the best of the resorts in that vicinity. The Food was typical of all inclusive trips, the a la cart meals were much better that the buffet. Overall my wife and I had a great time and I would revisit again in Future.

this resort has star 5 staff, it always feels good to go back to this resort, this is our 5th time in this resort and will be back again, this time I took a group of 12 family and friends, and all will be returning to SP.

2 - we expected a cleaner hotel, particularly the washroom in our room. Although the service was good, it was inconsistent, as some attendants were very friendly while others were very passive, particularly with white English speaking males.

Un tip aux serveurs agrémentera grandement votre service, c'est normal à Cuba comme ailleurs.

I have been going to Cuba for the last ten years and have alway stayed at Sol Palmeras. Their staff is awesome, always helping in anyway. There is a great variety of food at the buffet. I will continue going to this hotel

The hotel was very clean, service was efficient and most staff were very helpfull. I travelled alone with my 5 year old daughter and the staff went out of their way to make her feel special and comfortable. We had a room in the main building but out near the pool and beach. Great location for being close to the amenities but still quiet enough for those not participating in late night festivites. Our room was on the ground floor and had a patio, great feature if you have kids sleeping but still want to be outdoors and enjoy a drink or two. The food was pretty good, not gourmet, but had a great variety and always fresh. I did find that leafy salads were hard to come by but once in a while there would be some lettuce leaves! The New years buffet / dinner was spectacular. Food was beatifully displayed and the quality and variety was amazing. Truely well done.
A couple of criticisms is the kids club was very relaxed and didn't seem to have any actual programming or a means to contact parents when the child is distraught etc. Also, the Fitness facilities listed under amenities isn't actually on this resort but at a neighbouring resort and its use is subject to getting permission to use the club. This was very inconvennient and unexpected and should be made clear on the hotel information page.
The beach was fantastic (can't really go wrong in Varadero)the beach bar and staff was amazing. Water sports were good and always had some activity or other. Overall I found the hotel to be run very proffessionally and was pleased with the amenities and service received.

this resort is amazing. very large and lots of activities for everyone. the food is good and great variety. the beaches are very good and always clean. the lobby is air conditioned, which is different for us. always have been to open air lobbys. i would reccommand this resort to anyone both young and old.. we had beautiful weather as well which is always a plus, high 30'S and a little shower on the day before we left.. havana is a must but we didn't do that.. a long bus ride their and back.. we like to enjoy the resort itself, did go to town and took the double decker bus and rode for all day for 5 pescos per person and you can get off and on where ever you want, well worth the ride. all in all good place to go.

Great time - 2 weeks is too long for Cuba - 10 days would be ideal; very few packages for 10 days; property is dated and needsoverhaul, however, family for a family of 4, we had a great time. Ari from kids club us great. Lizzy at front desk is great. Food is good. Wish they had WiFi.

We were at the Sol Palmeras from the 16th - 24th of July - we had a great time - Rooms are standard and clean - resort is kept well and beach is amazing - my husband and I spent all week at the beach warm water beautiful sunshine great way to relax. Restaurants are good - you can always find something to eat but it does get bland and repetitive by the end of the week. All in all great value for your money!!

Nice beach, but watch your belongings. Our snorkel gear was stolen from the beach, and my shorts and tank top were taken from outside our door. Food is worst we've ever had in Cuba, but the bungalow was big and great with two kids. Mini club was not suitable for a 5 year old ever day and only opened from 10:30-12pm.
Mini disco was a clown show the nights we went, which our kids enjoyed, but many children weren't even aware he was performing. The communication of events is very bad. There is no gym here either.

I LOVE THIS HOTEL!!! especially the staff and entertainment crew. The dancers are awesome!

June 2011 visited hotel for 15th year. Was away for 2 yrs and have found good changes. Biggest change was removal of smoking in lobby area-this means family/children/seniors can enjoy evenings of entertainment in lobby and get togethers. Weakest is buffet in evenings foth food and sevice.

Ma première fois à Varadéro, c'était il y a 15 ans. Depuis, les hotels ont vieillit. Le SOl Palmeras vieillit bien. Son apparence extérieure et intérieure restent au goût du jour. Plusieurs rénovations ont été faites. Encore durant mon séjour, les travailleurs rénovaient les chemins piétons. D'ailleurs, le site extérieur est très beau. Il y a beaucoup de végétation, ce qui rend le paysage exotique.
Pour les chambres, il faut éviter celles du rez-de-chaussée. Elles sont très humides ce qui accentue le risque de rencontrer des êtres indésirables et les meubles de bois sont détoriés. Je me suis fait transférer au 3ème étage. Beaucoup mieux.
Pour la nourriture, le buffet est assez médiocre. Tout les jours c'était le même menu. Aucun changement. Cela fait plusieurs fois que je voyage à Cuba et c'est la première fois que je ne mange pas bien. Peut-être que l'hotel est trop gros avec ses 640 chambres et .
Les activités de l'hotel sont omniprésentes. Ne pensez pas vous ennuyer. C'est un feu roulant d'animations. Pas de temps morts. Quand ce n'est pas du workout ou une parade de mode à la plage, c'est du volleyball à la piscine, sinon une discothèque ou un tour de salsa ou merenge dans le hall de l'hotel. Très bien.
Pour terminer, c'est un hôtel pour les couples et la famille. Pour les célibataires ou amis, il faut sortir de l'hotel pour rencontrer des gens. Ex: Calle62 à Varadero.
Pour ceux qui veulent faire de la plongée en bouteille ou apnée, le Baracuda Diving Center offre ce service directement à l'hotel. Pour les débutants c'est bien, mais une fois rendu en mer les guides ne font que vous prendre en photo plutôt que de vous faire découvrir la faune et la flore. Décevant. Je vous suggère un lieu perdu: à 30 min de Varadero, le village suivant Boca, il existe un lieu nommé Playa Coral. Peu de touristes, beaucoup de coraux et de poissons. Très bon pour l'apnée à peu de frais. Vous risquez de rencontrer Alexander et Yuan. Deux cubains et amis très charmant et attachants. ;)
Finalement, Terminé pour moi Varadero. Trop touristique. Holguin est beaucoup mieux quand on veut se mêler le moindrement aux cubains.
Pour le Sol Palmeras, attendez d'avoir un bon prix avant de choisir cet hotel car pour Varadero, j'ai payé un peu trop cher pour ce qu'il offre.

So we were promised a king and got 2 doubles pushed together. A joke. They have 1 bathroom by the beach. It was dirty all the time. I mean, 2 thinkgs to keep people happy - beach towels and a clean bathroom, and they can't achieve that. They had BLARING music in the lobby every night as some form of entertainment, be it singers or a dance party or what have you. Now I have no qualms with the entertainment itself, only the location of it. They had a perfectly good bar that had a lot of space they could have doen that in. NO, they had to put it right in the middle of the darn lobby making it difficult to get through the lobby talk to reception, or even sit at the lobby bar, have a drink and talk. There was no where to escape that m,usic and drink and talk except the pool bar which had all of 10 chairs at it. once again STUPID. They could a few little things that would maek this experience MILES better. Not bad, but I am not going back unless it was a lot less than what I paid this time.

Le buffet du midi n' apas la capacité d'absorber le fort volume de la clientèle de sorte que l'attente pour entrer est beaucoup trop longue.Les restos de spécialité devraient être en mesure de prendre une partie de la clientèle mais il y a un manque flagrant de personnel et de bouffe.Alors,on attend partout et c'est très désagréable.Le personnel curt sans arrêt et ne sait plus où donner de la tête.

Food was great, beds a little hard, lots of fun and games, beach was beatiful, glad I met someone that had an extra adaptor for the outlets so I could plug in my curling iron to fix my hair.

Sol Palmeras - experience was fine, as expected.

Staff were very nice, beautiful grounds and gorgeous beach! Food wasn't too bad...I would definitely go back to this hotel!

We had a great time, tons to do with the kids, water sports and activities around the pool, we enjoyed the superior bungalows (ours was close to the beach and hotel)beach was great but the food was below expectations for Cuba (low already) although they did have a variety to choose from. Reservations at the restaurants were harder to get.

We brought our 6 month old baby (yes we're couragious) but were extremely happy with the kindness and attention from staff. Bottled water in the hotel room, clean rooms and food was very good for Cuba standards. Fesh pasta, two grill stations for seafood and meat and great espresso and Mojitos. What more do you need for this price?

It was a 3 star hotel that was rated a 4 or 5 star. Food was as good as expected to be in Cuba, which is just adequate at best. Poor selection of drinks, almost no after dinner liquors. Rooms were clean, mattress's were awful, staff were fine.
