Propreté partout! Personnel attentionné!
Plage superbe!

Deuxième séjour de deux semaines à cet hôtel.On y retournera encore. Tout nous convient. On espère que cet hôtel conservera son standard de qualité.

I,he visited the hotel before, while I was staying in another one two years ago

Un vrai 4 étoiles, mais pas un 5. Tout est très bien, même la nourriture, mais ne vous attendez pas à de petits "plus"

Très belle semaine, beau soleil, beau site, nourriture très correcte pour Cuba, beaucoup de fruits le matin, etc.

A picture says a thousand words; whoever states this is a great hotel has definitely NOT traveled often. Sunwing was worst than terrible! I am an average sized male (pilot) 5’11” and 185 lbs, the seat configuration in the SUNWING aircraft (Boeing 737-800) is akin to a 6hr torture chamber, meant to maximize profits at the absolute discomfort of the traveler. Upon our arrival (4:45 am), the staff at the hotel informed us we would not have a room until 4pm (almost a 12 hr wait). I had been up for close to 24 hrs and was exhausted. Don’t forget the 6 hrs in a seat meant for a 5 yr old was impossible to sleep in unless you consume copious amounts of either drugs or alcohol and those that do drink plenty of alcohol on the plane are making their way to the bathroom 6 times an hour usually asking you to get up as they pass.

When we were assigned our room we are so exhausted that we settle for what was provided and as stated above, a picture says a thousand words. TONS of ants in the 12th floor room (just waiting to hitch a ride home with you in your suitcase), leaking toilet from room above, excellent dilapidated furniture and worst reception on TV since the rabbit ear days. The “head chef” must have been recruited from the Toronto General Hospital because the food was worst than bad. Now I know that Cuba is not known for its tasty, quality food however we stayed at the Barcelo in Cayo Santa Clara a few years before and the food was fine.

Now to Sunwing….our luggage weighed 21.5 kg for one bag and 16.5 kg for the other when we left Calgary. We purchased NOTHING while in Cuba yet the very same luggage weighed 23.5 kg and 18.5 kg when departing Cuba. Also, the Cuban Sunwing rep weighed our carry on luggage (not done in Calgary) which put us over by 12 or so kg. He rudely informed us that it was 20 Cuban pesos PER kg over. Translation….$240 Canadian dollars for our carry on baggage. LUCKY US (and yes I am being very facetious) he only charged us $20 for which I am HIGHLY certain he pocketed! I WILL NEVER TRAVEL WITH SUNWING AGAIN AND I WILL INFORM AS MANY AS I CAN TO AVOID SUNWING. The $20 dollars we were charged by Sunwing will cost them thousands in lost revenue. Sunwing suffers from a severe lack of vision and/or forethought.

All in all it was a very poor experience and as I stated above, those who have high ratings for the Blau are not well traveled or are so inebriated that they are unable to make a sober distinction. Out of the staff we encountered at the Blau I would say 3 stand out as providing good, friendly service (and yes, we tip VERY well all the time). Our tipping regiment is as follows….$1 for 2 drinks, $5 per meal, $5 per day for the housekeeper, anything special warrants higher T.I.P.S. (To Insure Prompt Service). My wife and I spend roughly $250 a week on tipping alone. We are very polite and pleasant it was therefore not our attitude or our tipping policy that created the poor service and experience but rather the poor service of Sunwing and The Blau Varadero.

Bel hôtel, bel accueil,chambre propre,belle piscine,très bons repas,diner près de la piscine pratique et bon, manquait des petites choses dans la douche(tapis de bain, bouchon), silencieux la nuit dans les chambres,

Détente sans tracas avec une enfant de 3 ans et une autre de 12 mois. Beaucoup de familles sur le site, belle équipe d'animation. Nourriture très bien, bon service, bel hôtel. À répéter!

Nous avons bien aimé notre séjour à Blau Varadero:) L'hôtel est propre, les gens sont sympathique et très accueillants. La nourriture est bonne et pour tous les goûts. Belles plages et à proximité. Site pas trop grand, toilette à près de la plage et un bar également proche.

The hotel was definitely the best I've been to in Cuba. This is my third time to cuba, second in varadero.

The hotel appears to me to be the nicest one, with the best quality, in varadero.
I believe it has only been opened since 2005. It still looks very new.

The hotel room was clean and the maid service was good daily. We did find a large bug on the floor of our room the first day. However, after that we never saw another bug until the last day in the reception area (he probably wandered in from an open door). Pretty good for cuba. No ghekos in the rooms etc...

The hotel grounds are exceptional. I didn't want a long walk to the beach, but the garden atmosphere of a wide variety of palm trees and flowered trees, the large space with lots of lounge chairs and/or hammocs etc... made it an ideal place for a peaceful vacation. It reminded me of the jardin botanique in Montreal. The walk to the beach was beautiful and I didn't mind it at all.

The beach grounds were clean. There was a bathroom very close to the beach, a beach bar right nearby and the scuba/snorkel equipment nearby. The boardwalk was being re-varnished so we could only walk on one side, but that wasn't a big deal. The beach bar lacked abit of variety of food though. They had hamburgers, hot dogs, one kind of fish and egg salad with some chips and ingredients for burgers. Would've liked abit more variety for a 24 hour snack bar. It didn't appear to have food for 24 hrs either. They offered pizza from 11 pm to 7 am. They should offer this 24/7 to add to the menu and fries or other... However, there was the pool bar open which seemed to have abit more variety. There were enough palapas on the beach if you reserve one by 9:30am or so (while we were there the hotel was booked solid). The beach sports were good, free catamaran ride upon request. Had kite surfing, kayaks, pedalos etc..
My only complaint for the beach is that they should have the left side for smokers and the right side for non-smokers. Eating cigarette smoke all week in such a paradise wasn't pleasant. Especially when it is cuban cigars.

Hotel breakfast and supper buffets were great. Lots of variety of food. Breakfast had french toast, pancakes, omelettes (you can choose your ingredients), a danish/donut table, a bread table, a milkshake/smoothie fruit area, hot meal options (potatoes, chick peas, peppers, sausage etc...) about 9-10 varieties. They also had fruits, cheezes, lunch meats etc...

Supper had an area to make mixed pasta ingredients and/or pizza. Bread table, cheeze table, meat area (chicken, beef, seafood Ex: Calamary, shrimp, crab...).
One night they had chinese food. Another night they cooked a pig. Etc... Lots of choice.

I would've liked to have a lunch buffet though.

The two a la carte restaurants were good. The mexican one in particular was exceptional!!! 5 course meal twice in the week and everything was delicious and the service beyond anything I've ever seen. The international restaurant had violin players playing all evening which was really nice. The food wasn't as impressive as the mexican, but still of 5 star quality. I did find a few ants on the table though.

They have a game room with ping pong tables, a pool table etc...

The hotel inside grounds are beautiful and vast as well. Loved the setup of the hotel with piano bar location, lobby, hotel shop, entertainment area etc...

Third floor is reception, piano bar, buffet. Second floor is hotel shop. 1st floor has bar area, entertainment area, spa etc... and area to go outside to beach.

Had towels for beach to change each day open from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Pool was big and nice. Although, they emptied half the pool the last few days to do repair work.

Quality versus price - I'd say we got a good deal!

Front desk/reception was ok. There lacked enough employees on certain days to get quicker service. Overall, was good.

Bathroom was great. Restaurant and buffet staff were all great and very pleasant. Beach staff were very friendly and helpful also. Including security staff. Security is good, someone always patrolling the beach.

Internet access is typical cuba. Available, but slow.

Location was good. Any hotel past the Blau didn't appear to have good beach location and was far. The Blau had a good location. Right near (within walking distance) to the dolphinarium. Walk and pay 15 pesos to see the dolphin show.

Overall, this 4 star hotel ranks a definite 5 star in my books. If I return to varadero I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. I was spoiled at the Blau and would definitely return.

J'ai beaucoup apprécié, sauf pour quelques irritants comme les nombreux fumeurs sur la plage, je les déteste. Je vote pour une plage avec section fumeurs et une non fumeurs, car c'est un irritant majeur, surtout quand on fume le cigare. La plage est un peu loin de l'hôtel à mon goût, mais somme toute très propre à part les fumeurs qui laissent leurs mégots bien souvent (les plus cochons). Le personnel hyper gentil et poli. Chambre très propre et confortable et paisible. Pour le café, c'est dommage, car tous les hôtels gagneraient tellement à faire un excellent café, pourtant, ils en vendent du bon à Cuba, d'après moi, c'est leur méthode, ou le lait, ou leur machine ou une combinaison de tout ça, mais je sais qu'ils en sont conscients et qu'ils doivent changer ça, mais c'est aussi compliqué que faire une nouvelle autoroute, d'après ce que j'ai entendu de leur part. La nourriture est bonne mais pas plus, les restaurants (2) un peu mieux que le buffet. Il semble que le Mexicain est à éviter d'après les commentaires. Ils auraient intérêt à inviter quelques-uns de nos chefs québécois pour quelques cours de cuisine. Durant mon séjour, on a été envahi par les Allemands, ceux-là prennent beaucoup de place sur la plage et attention à vos chaises... Comme tous les hôtels tout inclus, ils ont leur lot d'alcooliques et la mode n'est plus au verre, mais au contenant gigantesque qu'ils se procurent avant d'arriver, vraiment c'est épeurant de voir ça, une chance qu'on est pas tous comme ça!

This was my first time out of Canada and I must say I HAD A GREAT TIME!!!!. The service at that hotel was great. The food was really good, it may be too much to eat. The service at the bars were really good. The games we played were a lot of fun. The shows at night were the best(a little long). I would go back any time. Thanks

Nous avons adorés notre séjour au Blau ! Les gens sont gentils et très souriants, le service très courtois ! Les lieux sont propres, la plage belle! Que du plaisir !!
On y retournerait demain !

La bouffe est bonne, rien à dire de négatif en 6 voyages à Cuba c'est l'un des plus beaux!

Nous avons passé une merveilleuse semaine moi et mon mari....C'est le meilleur hôtel
que nous avons été depuis 2003 , donc 4 fois à Varadero. Belle grande chambre simple par-contre avec vu sur la mer. L'hôtel est superbe avec ses lianes qui descend de haut en bas. Ascenseur vitré. Excellent service excellente nourriture pour Cuba. Pour les très difficile ceux qui critique contre la nourriture, rester chez-vous,car Cuba font avec ce qu'ils ont !! Plage et la mer comme toujours pour nous celles de Cuba sont les plus belles !! Habituellement nous passons toujours 1 semaine à Cuba chaque année,et jamais au même hôtel. Nous serions prêt a y retourner 2 semaines à cet hôtel. Le buffet est très varié beaucoup de choix. Le poisson est excellent le poulet et le porc. Les déjeuners le cappuccino. Les restos à la carte sont excellent en passant.Donc nous vous disons n’hésitez pas pour cet endroit nous vous le recommandons sans aucun problème !!

Nous y avons séjourné du 12 au 19 avril dernier et ce fut une très belle expérience. Chambre propre, personnel courtois. Un peu de répétition au buffet mais quand même OK. Les 2 restos à la carte sont par contre ordinaire. Faites-vous copain avec Norberto et vous aurez un sacré bon service au buffet ainsi que lors des spectacles de fin de soirée.

Had a great time at the Blau. Hotel visually appealing different from other hotels in the area. No problem with the food alot of selection you will not go hungry. Will return to this hotel again.

We love this hotel! It is always clean, staff friendly, and has great food. I am a picky eater and this year found the food even better than last year. A good variety of condiments. Seems like they are taking the comments from guests and really listening to their suggestions. Staff is friendly and really go out of their way to ensure your comfort and stay is a happy one. Even down to the gardener who brought us over a fresh cut coconut. The beach is so large and clean, the sand is like soft baby powder, unbelievable. There were always chairs available and someone there to get you one. There is a huge pool as well but we spent our time at the beach. It has a great piano bar with different musicians and is a great place to sit and just relax. We love the Blau so much that we are planning our next vacation already. Thank you Blau for the great week, and we will see you in December.

Bel hôtel qui est en fait un atrium qui permet de faire pousser une jolie végétation. Bâtiment de 14 étages qui abrite à son rez-de-chaussé la réception, le buffet, la salle de spectacle, un bar et un piano bar, ce qui fait qu'en soirée lorsque tout le monde se rassemble à l'intérieur, il ne faut pas avoir peur de la proximité, c'est assez bruyant, donc pour les couches tôt ça devient vite irritant. Chambres modestes mais très propres. Nourriture très bonne mais choix limité. Excellent service à la réception mais les sourires se font rares. Super bon café au bar de la piscine contrairement à celui que l'on sert au buffet. Manque de palapas à la superbe plage. Pour les gens qui veulent se reposer sur la plage, c'est parfait car très peu d'animation. En ce qui nous concerne nous n'y retournerons pas, mais nous avons quand même beaucoup apprécié notre semaine.

My daughter and I stayed at Blau and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check in was quick but our room was not ready, (check in is 4:00 and it was only 3:00)so we explored the grounds and had a drink. We then got our room keys and entered but couldn't figure out why we had no electricity. When our luggage arrive we found out that there was a box that you had to insert your room key into and the power would come on. We did find the elevators were slow but were only on floor 6 and the buffet was on 3 so we had a little exercise. The food was as I had expected. If you like maple syrup, ketchup and peanut butter at breakfast then bring some in your luggage. At no time did we go hungry so even the pickiest eaters will find something. The pool area was well kept up with many lounge chairs. When the beaches are closed for swimming then they add more chairs around the pool area. There were lots of activities going on around the pool from water aerobics, pellet gun shooting and archery, to ring toss and BINGO. Some having prizes of bottles of rum. The beaches are beautiful white sand and run forever. The water is warm and you can swim out with no problems. There is a small area roped off in the water for small children as well. There are pedal boats, ocean canoes and hobie cats (small sailboats) that can be used. We saw 3 of the nightly shows and enjoyed them. Grammy Night was best followed by Circus night. Latin night was OK but kids would get bored quickly. Show time was 9:45 each night. Bar service was great but take a large plastic mug or cup because the drinks are served in what I would call an extra small cup at Timmies. Unless you want lots of exercise, walking back and forth to the bar, then bring something bigger. The staff in the dining area and around the pool work their asses off so leaving a tip is much appreciated. They make very little in wages and have to live off of tips. Big shout out to Evellio in the dining area and Roberto in the entertainment around the pool. They helped make our stay very enjoyable and fun. I would go back here in a heart beat.

Très bel endroit, le looby est majestueux avec ses plantes intérieures. La propreté est remarquable. Le buffet et le restaurant à la carte sont correct. Le barman de la plage ( Raidel ) sauve la note pour le service, car pour les autres bar, le service est acceptable. C'est vrai que l'ascenseur est lent, mais on n'est en vacances après tout ! Bien que nous y allions pour se reposer, les soirées sont très tranquilles. Après le spectacle, aucune musique d'ambiance, le looby est vide à 22h30 ! Nous avons beaucoup apprécié le nouveau service d'autobus en soirée pour Varadero à 2 pesos. Nous sommes âgé entre 35 et 40 ans et avons voyagé en couple. La note finale serait de 8 sur 10

C'est hôtel mérite vraiment ses 4 étoiles. Il y a quelques points négatifs mais en général c'est très bien pour Cuba. La nourriture est bonne, il y a beaucoup de fruits, le vin est assez bon (beaucoup mieux qu'en République Dominicaine). L'hôtel est très propre. La plage est belle, l'eau est claire et on peut aller loin dans la mer avant que ce soit profond. Nous avons fait l'excursion Jeep Safari: très décevant. Elle ne vaut pas son prix du tout. L'excursion à la Havane est beaucoup mieux.

Superbe semaine au Blau. Hôtel nettement supérieur à d'autres 4 étoiles de Varadero. Plage superbe, personnel gentil, nourriture adéquate et abondante, chambre très confortable. Nous le recommandons et y retournerons sans crainte!

This is a very nice hotel, with spectacular atrium, well maintained, with friendly staff who are trying really hard. The beach and pool are great. Nice grounds. Food is a problem everywhere in Cuba, including here, so it made us eat less, which is a good thing! Most of the other resorts looked scary and run down, so I was glad to be here. Great shows each evening.

Our second visit to this hotel.Yes we would go back. The standard of this hotel is better that most in Cuba and we have been to 8-10 others.
