 Beach 5 star

Beautiful grounds & pool area. Hotel is large but still has cozy feel. Rooms are dated, need plumbing fixture replacement & decorations on walls. Bed mattress was poor.
Hotel lacks a swim up bar & the beach bar is too far off the beach.
Internet was slow & expensive.
Gymnasium equipment is old & needs upgrading.
Overall, good value for a relaxing sun filled vacation of rest.

 Winter getaway

The hotel is nice. There was a shallow lagoon with lots of fish and 2 nurse sharks. The pool is big with lots of space around for people. The junior suite is roomy, with a firm king bed and a rocking chair. Met lots friendly people both staffs and guests. We had a great time.

 A dream come true

Las Antillas was absolutely wonderful! The service was great, and the food was awesome! Everyone was very cheerful and helpful. The nightly entertainment was also great. Our room was always well maintained and cleaned. All in all, we enjoyed it so much that we are planning on returning to Las Antillas next year - we wouldn't even dream at looking at other hotels after our splendid experience with Las Antillas

 Above expectation....

This was my second trip to Cuba. We were there from Dec 25 - Jan 1. The whole week was absolutely amazing. The food was great - fresh, lots of seafood, lots of choices. There are two different bars you can eat at for lunch in addition to the buffet. We ate at the pizzeria almost everyday for lunch. Service was good but it's sad how much of expectation is placed on tips. Things have definitely changed since the last time I was here in 2008.
We took the jeep safari trip and that was a lot of fun. It was nice to see how people live outside of the city.
The shows at night were unbelievable - way way way above our expectations.
The hotel itself is a bit old, rooms are very standard but anything that we needed was automatically attended to. The beach was beautiful - cleaned everyday.

 Watch out for the bridges!

since I was there last year and had a great time, I thought I would have the same experience this year, but this was not the case. the level of the hotel has gone down, especially the food. I was very disappointed this time.
this hotel is no more than a 3 star at best.
watch out for the bridges going to the pool and beach area. very dangerous when wet. I slipped and fell the first day there and had to spend a whole day waiting for the doctor - who is suppose to be in his office 9-5 every day.
I ended up leaving to go to a different hotel due to not being able to walk over the bridges anymore due to my injured foot. Needless to say I did not enjoy my vacation at all as I could not walk for the rest of my stay.

Would go back to Cuba, not necessarily here

Sheets were dirty upon arrival (5am) and we were told there was nothing to be done until morning. A ton of bugs on the floor, we had just fallen asleep then a housekeeper came with new sheets. The next day we changed rooms and our experience just got better. The front desk seemed under staffed and slow. The food was excellent, lots of variety. On at least one occasion the sheets were stained and still in use. The beach here was great, we walked down a ways and at the other resorts the beach was not as good.

 Great Hotel

The hotel rooms were clean and comfortable. The food selection and quality was exceptional compared to other resorts in Cuba. Beach was beautiful. Limited selection for drinks, but wine was good quality. Adults only resort is a nice touch.

Good Resort - Not a 4.5 star though

We stayed at the Melia August 30 - September 6, 2011 and had a great time. Everyone was very nice and friendly that worked there. The rooms on the first floor were gross looking so we got moved up to the fourth floor which was much nicer. The food was horrible, as predicted in Cuba. Price was great - you get what you pay for. Sometimes there was some set backs, like the towel service almost never had clean beach towels... impossible to book the A La Cartes. Bring your own food and do lots of excursions. Resort is nice but the pond smells horrible and is dirty! Also, the drinks are nothing special... Oh, and there are ants in the room! Ew! I would rate the resort a 3.5 star

Chris and Peter at Melia Las Antilles Aug 27-11

Our 8 night vacation here was great. The staff were amazing everywhere and the grounds were beautiful. The food was plentiful always, although sometimes not great, but you could always find something you liked and stick to it, like pizzas, pasta, ice cream, omlettes, breads, desserts, fries, burgers and hot dogs which were all pretty good. The grounds are very, very, very slippery when it rains, so be extremely careful. It is actually dangerous. I went for a tumble down some slippery stairs, a whole flight and got quite bruised up, so watch out!! I did not let it ruin my vacation though, just carried on and dealt with it. I did bring it to the attention of the customer service rep., just to make them aware. The signs are a bit small for the slippery when wet notice. There were no bugs at all outside at night or anywhere at this resort. There were no bugs at all in the room either, a bug free vacation. The room was spectacularly clean and beautiful with the ocean view and balcony and flat screen TV. We upgraded from basic because people on both sides of us on the ground were partying all night and we were so happy we did it for $25CUC/night, well worth it. The shows at night were awesome. I can't believe the entertainment they put on. It was incredible. We loved it and didn't miss out on one night. The Melia Antilles did a great job with the entertainment and the stage setup. If you know dance well, the dancers were very highly trained and skilled. The vocalists were also really good. The pool was amazing. It was huge, and very clean with awesome music and activities all day long. We were always able to get chairs and palapas everywhere at this resort. The towel culture is a bit mysterious and if you don't know about it, it can be hard to get them, has to be done through your room and housekeeper, but again, just ask. I admire the workers and the efforts put into this resort to accommodate the travelers. They always seemed more than pleased to assist us, tip or no tip, not an issue. But we really tipped generously and enjoyed doing it, just for the thanks alone, worth every cent. The lobby is awesome and the lounge area by the bar is so relaxing and comfortable. The morning breakfast on the terrace with a cappuccino from the bar was one of our favorite times. Overall the facilities were more than we expected and we have no major complaints about the resort at all, just the leaks and slippery issues when it rains. If we go back, we would try it here again. I loved just about everything at Melia Antillas. Thanks for the pleasant stay Melia Antilles.

 Melia Las Antillas experience

Upon our arrival we were placed in separate rooms at opposite extremes from each other as the Hotel receptionist indicated that our booking came not as a family but as separate booking. I was extremely disatisfied as I booked both rooms under the same last name at the same time. While at the resort they failed to stock up with both bottled driking water and toilet paper. Luckly we brought our own toilet paper...clearly not expected for a 4*.

I was also unhappy that we were not informed of our flight delay by the agency representative.
