First time staying here, will definately be back. Great room, service, food, drinks, and entertainment.

Very nice property, we did have to change room as our's was pool facing and next to a ping pong table, this became a problem as the players were very loud and swearing.
They did change our room however we had to pay $20.00 extra Per night for 6 night to get away from that.
Premium Selected brands at the bar are only stocked at the lobby bar, everywhere else is domestic, So you better prepare to leave the beach or pool and walk up to the lobby bar if you want anything other than domestic brands, we opted to take a cab ($14.00) return to a local mall and purchase our beverage of choice so we would have it in our room.
A la Carte restaurant, Mexican good, Brazilian & seafood, not worth it, go for the buffet.
Staff not really friendly, we felt like we were disrupting their day and a bother to be around.
Beach, Not close to good, maybe okay?
Buffet food, Cold is the word here, so you might as well go cold food all around, The omelettes were hot, they however were very dry,no milk or cream added to the mixture and long wait time.
Night entertainement, not worth watching, go for a walk or to bed. Kids school plays have better entertainement.
My 1st visit at Iberostar resort, Not really tempted to go again.

I went with my boyfriend, and we had an amazing time! The food was beyond our expectations. There was a wide array of drinks available, both local and international. The pool is huge. The property is very well maintained. All of the service staff went above and beyond our expectations - they were extremely helpful and very polite.

A dream come true, we found the Heaven on the Earth.

Nous avons séjourné pendant 2 semaines à l'Iberostar Costa Dorada au début avril 2012. Nous avons eu droit à 12 jours de soleil à Puerto Plata. La nourriture offerte au buffet était excellente. L'animation sur le site était de très bonne qualité. Points à améliorer : l'insonorisation et la quiétude des chambres, de même que la qualité des restos à la carte. La qualité de la plage était supérieure à nos attentes même si à certains endroits, hors des sites entretenus et surveillés par les hôtels, il y avait des déchets.

The food at this hotel was excellent. There were no wait times for tables or lineups for food. The service was very good. We left on good Friday and the Hotel was getting much busier.

The hotel was lovely. Ask for a beach front room - the $20 extra a day is worth it. We recommend the second floor for best view. The shows were not top rate and rather amateur time - don't bother with them if a good movie is on tv. The international restaurant is terrible and the staff must know cause they rush you through your meal taking away your plates. Brazilian restaurant was amazing! Lots of Lounges and tiki huts on the beach and around the large winding pool area. Came home with the best tan I ever had!

Bon je dois avouer puerto plata n'étais pas notre choix de destination voyage . a ma grande surprise nous avons eu un aceuille merveilleux . hotel tres propre les chambres aussi, l'espace dans la salle de bain pas tres grand mais ok. le bémole les portes claques fort mais il suffit de la tenire quand nous la fermons .Nous étions dans le bloc 2000 vue sur l'hotel a coté . mais je ne suis pas la pour rester sur le balcon.Le staff est merveilleux super gentil ,tu dis ton nom une fois a gigi et je vous jure il s'en souviens .Bon au sérieux pour ceux qui ne mange que des pâtes a la semaine longue de peur d'avoir la tourista !!! ,vous n'avez pas a avoir peur de manger de la viande le buffet est tellement bon que nous avons été seulement au brésilien tres bon . c'est vraiment pas la place pour faire un régime faite le vide avant de partire .le petit dej, diner, souper, my god j'ai jamais mangé autemps dans le sud impossible de prendre une assiette c'est toujours deux . nous avons eu une journée complete de pluie et deux avec nuages, mais le staff vous fait faire des activités . BON la plage je pense que le iberostar n'a pas son 5* accause de la mer mais c'est completement hors de leurs controle nous avons eu des journées sans aucune algues et d'autre avec beaucoup d'algues et quand je dis beaucoup c'est beaucoup mais il y a toujours des hommes qui racle et qui les ramassent avec un pick up, et de les avoir vue moi meme a 6h00 am . mais il y a toujours moyen d'aller a la mer un peu plus loin 1 minute et c'est ok . pour ceux qui aime prendre des grandes marche c'est super il y a des dominicains qui nous achalent mais un signe de la main et c'est ok . vous pouvez aller au orange market pour les souvenirs -50% -75% du prix demandé ca va mal a shop hi hi hi. en meme temps aller manger une poutine chez francois il est au orange market .Mon conjoint a meme pris son cours de plongée il a eu sa carte padi, moin cher qu'ici et tu fais ta certification en eau chaude .n'oublier pas de saluer tomas a la plage il est vraiment gentil et toujours souriant ... je vous conseille fortement cette hotel.

Spent the week of March 23 to 30th at the Iberostar Costa Dorada and had a wonderful time. The location, beach, food were all better than I expected.

Excellent resort!! Personnel accueillant! Tres bon service. Bouffe excellente! Tres propre!!

L'hôtel est située à environ 20 min. de l'aéroport.En entrant à la réception on peu remarquer le luxe et les grands espaces. Le site regorge de palmiers de fontaines et une très belle végétation.
La propreté du site et des chambres semble être la priorité numéro 1. Que ce soit à la piscine ou à la plage, il y a des chaises longues pour tous et plus et pour ceux qui veulent de l'ombre, il y a beaucoup de palapas et d'arbres. Pour la plage beau sable fin mais souvent des algues dans l'eau. Nous pouvions quand même trouver un bel endroit pour se baigner juste à côté. Nous ne pouvons nous ennuyer car l'équipe d'animation était super toute la journée ainsi que les spectacles en soirée. Pour la restauration, nous avons très bien mangé au buffet qui est très varié (mercredi fruits de mer et langoustes). 3 restaurants à la carte, le meilleur est le restaurant international. Pour être allé plusieurs fois à Puerto Plata, c'est la meilleure hôtel qualité/prix. Evaluation 4.5*

Everything right from the check in was great. We had asked our travel agent to request a crib for our baby and we were pleasantly surprised that it was already set up in our room when we arrived. Check in was a breeze, great first impression. Our room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. All restaurants were great, food was awesome. They had BBQ's on the beach too! Pool is great although we spent our days on the beautiful beach. lots of chairs and plenty of shade if needed.
Excellent kids center with an indoor and outdoor area on the beach. A toddlers dream! Our 21 month old really enjoyed himself. We left our cell phones, laptops and watches at home and felt totally relaxed there. Best vacation yet. All postitives from my experience!

This is a resort that caters to all age groups. For the most part is was an over 40 and under 10 age group. Near perfect in every way.

Superbe endroit mais la nourriture dans les restaurants laisse a desirer.

Nous avons adoré! L'hôtel était très propre et la nourriture était excellente et variée autant au buffet qu'à la carte. Nous avons eu du soleil les 7 jours! La plage était belle à notre arrivée, mais par la suite il y avait des algues. Toutefois, cela ne nous a pas empeché de nous baigner car il y a toujours un endroit propice à la baignade.

Bel hôtel propre ,plage très moyenne eau avec algue et roche et des vendeur de toute sorte (harcelant) buffet excellent ,restaurant a la carte brésilien très bon et les autres moyen.

Hotel was clean and well maintained. Rooms were nice and always restocked (water, pop etc.) Only complaint was there was no swim up bar. But pool was big and clean and beach was nice and had shaded areas to get out of the sun. Staff was amazing and friendly, and no complaints about the food in the buffet and snack bar. Mexican a la carte was not so good. Over all a great resort and money well spent.

The one thing that I really appreciated about this resort was its layout and design. The resort had a really nice community feeling. The landscaping was also amazing making the resort beautiful and lush. In addition, the staff were wonderful and accommodating. The beach was lovely, however, beware of the reef in the ocean. It's quite close to shore and not marked! Also, the food was great. They had many options so I never felt limited. I could also always get a reservation at the al a carte restaurants. Overall, a really great trip.

Check in/out was a breeze, despite requests for ocean view room, couldn't accommodate, wouldn't consider change during week. Room design & decor a little tired but VERY CLEAN and well maintained. Maintenance and entertainment staff very good, Lion King show exceptional

I have been to Puerto Plata five times now and this was my first time at the Iberostar. The hotel is very clean and well taken care of. There is nothing I can say bad about the hotel, however I am open minded and have stayed at expensive places and cheap places. I will be returning and recommand this to anyone that is looking for a good beach front resort in Dominican. The resort is located beside the Playa Dorada complex (1 km by car) or closer by walking the beach. The a la cart restaurants were great and the food at the whole resort is great.

This was our second time at this resort. It was wonderful to go back after 5 years. All the special people that make the resort what it is are still working there. The food is awesome! The Brazilian restaurant is such a treat. We saved two of our al a carte's for this restaurant. The entertainment staff is great and are always doing something to keep the visitors entertained. We can't wait to go back again!

As expected...reviews are pretty accurate!

This is our second visit to this resort, staying for two weeks; good value for the money. Excellent variety of tasty food, beautifully manicured property. Always plenty of lounge chairs at the pool or beach. People would be disappointed if they were going for beach, nice sand, but severe seaweed problem. Lots of activities available if you were inclined; entertainment team was extremely friendly and accommodating.

B/c it was Transat they included airport transfers and the arrival and departure taxes.

Resort itself was clean, very pretty, garden is well kept, pool was fairly clean, pool water was colder than expected, beach nice, ocean is not swimable because the water is very cold, ocean water is too wavy-water not calm, have to tip even though it is all inclusive, entertainment was really good and way better than expected, sand is golden not white.

Was worth it only b/c it was a steal at 7 nights for $1100/person, would not pay more than that for this.

Shower was broken but they fixed it the next day. Good water pressure.

Have to wake up early to stake out pool chairs.

Airport staff were not organised. Flight back was tooo long, airplane is stuffed to the max and seats are way too close together -take snacks as the food is not very good, service staff were really nice.

Luggage and clothes smelled at the end of the trip (?b/c of the fumigating of the rooms...not sure, had to wash everything-even clothes we did not wear).

Brushed teeth with bottles water so did not get sick.

Good fresh veggies and fruits.

Got a couples massage for $140, was very relaxing with good staff but wish it could be cheaper.

Staff give better drinks (better wines and better made drinks) and food to those who tip heavily - approx $1 US/drink -not a good standard for an all inclusive. Not happy with differential service.

Would only recommend if you can get it for approx $1100/person or less (flight, hotel, taxes, transfers included).

Amazing time from check in to leaving. This hotel has it all from great people running it to great food. Late night food is available as they open the buffet restaurant til 5am. For the price, it was well worth it and will go back to this resort again. What a pleasure!!!!

The hotel rooms and main campus are interconnected through a covered walkway so even when it rains you can still get around without getting wet.

The Star Friends entertainment team does a good job of providing a variety of daily activities for the guests.

Overall meets all expectations and would recommend this resort.

Arrival: Resort not far from airport. Arrived late evening and couldn't get our room changed to what we wanted. Night staff said day staff could help us.Front desk was very nice and friendly considering an 11:30 pm or later arrival. We had a drink in lobby and went to bed. Left all our stuff in the suitcases so we could change rooms. We were given our selection the next day. Bit of a pain as you have to get your stuff organized and move everything. Takes up precious time!

Rooms: Older but very clean and spacious, bathrooms clean and good water pressure. Lots of towels and soaps for you to use.
Balconies were set up with cafe type table and 2 chairs. Beds were very good and so comfortable. Pillows are hard. Blankets can use an update. Main floor rooms backing onto the other resort were musty or mouldy smelling. If you get a room pool side in buildings 2 to 4 you get the sunny side and the rooms are fine.

Beach: Enough chairs and shade trees for everyone. Water was grassy and not inviting. Sea weed along half of the beachfront. Very windy (January). A good point - Hardly any vendors to bother resort customers.

Pools: great. We likeed that there isn't a swim up bar. The bar was just a few steps away in the beach restaurant. Pool was clean and had great wandering shape. Need to be up early to get a lounger and shade.

Food: Actually very good. Didn't go to a la cartes but the Buffet was excellent. Staff wonderful. Lots of stations with cooks ie fish - had lobster on Wednesday and Sea Bass another night. Tons of food! Wine was not bad either! Breads very good. There is always something open all day for people who have different sleep patterns or just want to stay on the beach. Beach Bar bartender (Elvan) makes wicked cappachino's. Servers in the buffet was so friendly and helpful.

Front desk & Business: We emailed ahead of time so we could get a room and be settled when we came in. Didn't get it. Changing rooms involves losing time and starting all over again.
Please note that if you arrive in the late evenings you have to wait till the next day for a room change. Night front desk people will not do it.
Because we were leaving at 6:15 pm we wanted a late check out. We got it but it was $35. for each person so $70. for a couple. We heard the other resorts were around half that price. The late check out was still a hastle to get. Turns people off. We shouldn't have to feel bad about wanting to change rooms or late check outs.

All in all the resort was very good. The staff working on entertainment work very hard and were funny. Shows were Dominician shows. During the day there were always something to do around the pool and lots and lots of loud music.
The weather was rainy and cloudy most of the time with about 3 days of sun (January 2012). Not much you can do about that so bring some good books and enjoy the atmosphere and good food.
