 Paradise on earth

We just came back from "sunset at the palms”. It’s a paradise on earth. I highly recommend this hotel. It’s quiet, the beach is amazing, staff at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. We went with our son, 5 years old, he loved it. Food is very good and very clean and fresh. If you want to spend time with your family, far from the hustle and bustle this is the place to go. Entertainment is not like the usual we have seen in other Caribbean islands. In the evening there is a live band that plays reggae music by the pool. No entertainment at the beach during the day. Non motor boats are there for your use with no extra charges (included in the package price). We would definitely go back, loved it!

 Exactly what we ordered

We wanted a quiet, relaxing, carefree vacation and got it. Let me begin with, we will definately return to the Sunset at the Palms. The location, beach, and facilties are great! The staff make it even better!! I can't say enough good things about the staff, who make you feel so welcome and look after you, and insist on serving you; Can't count the number of times I tried to do something (get a beach chair or get a coffee) and have a staff say 'relax I'll get it - you're on vacation'.
Some have commented on road noise - only the few very front units seem to notice that from what we heard. Some commented on the food being boring/the same - we found great quality and selection, and of course after a week there is some repetition but it is good food. Entertainment - know what you're booking. This hotel isn't for everyone; if you like the loud music by the pool and a bullhorn calling you to activities, don't go here. Mid-week a new couple swam to the pool bar and loudly ordered drinks while asking for the music to be turned up. We all smiled and thought "you're at the wrong resort". There was entertainment each evening, music at the pool bar. It was over at 10:00, and this suited us just fine.
The beach was super! Yes it's across the road but no further than the walk at many resorts. And it's big enough that there's lots of room for hotel guests (same with the pool). There is no need for beach or pool chair 'saving' here.
Our disappointment was with our room. Feedback to management was that this room shouldn't be used. In fairness they offered to move us 2 days in, but we were settled by then. Just know that not all the rooms are as picture-perfect as the advertising. Still, it was private, and secure. Just issues with it's age.
Other notes: there is a room safe, no charge; There is an iron and kettle in the room. They do an ice and turn-down service every night.
People commented on bugs. You are in a tropical jungle setting, not a concrete bunker. You will find insects. We had flying ants that appear at night. they didn't bite and weren't irritating. We also had a gecko in our room - once you get used to that and realize it's just eating the bugs, that's fine.
All said, we had a wonderful time and we will return. Most of it was as expected (with high expectations) or above.

Very Happy

 Relaxing, intimate resort

If you are looking for crowds of people and lots of entertainment, this is not the place for you. If you want to relax, read a book and not be bothered in any way, pick Sunset at the Palms. My husband and I just got back from the most perfect rejuvenating vacation we have ever been on. What a fantastic week!! Not one thing to complain about except for the little biting bugs that seemed to enjoy munching on me. No one else we talked to was bitten. We are going back next year (with lots of bug spray for me) and we never return to the same resort. The beach is across the road, but I have walked farther at a big resort. Go and enjoy the peace and quiet!

 Go Jamaica

You always wonder how well a resort will measure up to your expectations. If you decide on this one, you won't be disappointed! I don't think it is possible to be pampered by nicer people. The service really is the key.

 Amazing Experience!

This is an amazing hotel for those who want to chill out, relax, meet great people and enjoy the beach and beautiful sunsets. The rooms are beautiful, the beach was gorgeous with lots of entertainment from singers. The food at the resort was delicious - there wasn't t on of selection like at some of the bigger resorts but everything available was amazing. This is not a huge resort with a million things going on anf hundreds of people, it is a small intimate experience. I loved it - it was exactly what we needed. The highlights - fruit smoothies at the beach, the bacon in the morning, Moses (the one man band) and the beautiful lush grounds.

 Nice Vacation

The hotel is small, well looked after and not busy at all! There are no reserving chairs at the beach or pool, there are plenty to go around. Towels do not have to be returned daily and you can leave them anywhere you like. The food is ok but not very warm. The hotel staff are amazingly nice. The drawback is the amount of sand fleas both at the resort grounds, rooms and beach. They do not spray enough to keep them at bay. The beach is too overgrown with trees and does not have much clear space to sit in to worship the sun until approv 1pm when it passes over the trees, the ocean on the other hand is wonderful.

 Sunset at the Palms

The staff was excellent. The grounds was a tropical paradise. Nature tour with Shorty was fantastic. Food was good, lots of variety. Piano player was great, he really got the crowd involved.
We really enjoyed The Vibe, Stephanie does a great job singing Adele music. We didn't really care much for the foxtrot band. The coffee bar was good and the snackbar on the beach was pretty good for a quick lunch or snack. Lots of beach to walk and the water was lovely. We really enjoyed the bungalow. The treefrogs were very noisy from dusk to dawn! You get use to it though. Overall we loved our stay and hope to go back again.

 Passion amoureuse

I've stayed on Bloody Bay several times - it's a gorgeous location with a beautiful beach. This was my first time at SATP, but I will most certainly be back! Best accommodations so far! Loved it!

Excellent all around! We're coming back!

What a GREAT experience!
My partner and I have stayed at many four and five star resorts and hotels in the Caribbean – staying at Sunset at the Palms ranks in the top three! From our arrival to departure the staff made our stay delightful! The reception area is simple and unpretentious; staff in this department was very efficient the entire week. We were given cold towels upon arrival to refresh us and a tropical drink. We were finished checking in and seated in the main restaurant which is delightfully airy and open and surrounded by beautiful gardens, for lunch in less than 15 minutes after arriving. Speaking of staff – other than one negative (and not worth mentioning experience with the beach equipment manager) - EVERYONE was friendly, helpful and professional. The staff collectively seemed genuinely interested in being helpful and supportive to the guests and collegial to each other; hands down the people who work here were the best and friendliest we’ve ever experienced in any of our southern vacations!
The beach was beautiful, with clear, clean, warm water and sugar cane coloured sand. The beach is over two kilometres long. The beach is a short (under two minute) walk from the resort main buildings, over a road that has a security person stopping traffic whenever we needed to cross; having stayed at several ( 500 room) resorts in the past where walking a great deal is required, walking across the road was a non-issue. On the beach there was never a need to ‘reserve’ a lounge chair first thing in the morning as the resort had a large supply; there were many options of where to set up our lounge chairs as there are loads of beautiful, mature trees to sit under if you didn’t want a sun only location. Often at lunch we stayed on the beach and feasted on really superb red snapper that was freshly grilled to order. There is both a beach bar and take out grill that serves food if you don’t want to go back to the main buffet style restaurant for a meal. Four nights of the week an ala carte restaurant also opens. It really didn’t matter where we ate as the food was always varied and well prepared. The dining and kitchen staff were over the top friendly and professional! The tables always looked clean, appetizing, fresh and cared for.
The cleaning and maintenance staff did a very good job. Our bright, large, Bali feeling and decorated room (picture a delightful, romantic tree house) featured a comfortable king size bed with fine cotton sheets. Our room had ample storage and closet space. The marble clad bathroom had a five nozzle head shower. One time when our shower curtain rod fell down, maintenance fixed the problem within fifteen minutes of our calling. Our room had a large balcony which contained two chairs and a table (and more importantly), a good size day bed, perfect for afternoon naps and extended reading sessions.
The grounds were always immaculate, stunning, well maintained and extensive! We enjoyed strolls through the grounds and were continually finding different native and non-native trees, plants, geckos and birds. We have never heard and seen more variety of birds on a vacation. There was a Dr. Bird (hummingbird) that perched on a bamboo tree branch right beside the walkway leading to the main buildings; it was really cool to watch this bird as it swooped around from flower to flower. The quiet air conditioner worked really well in our room, but we found the room ceiling fan was often all we needed at night to be comfortable.
We found the resort quiet, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable! The resort is quite intimate as it only has eighty-five rooms. We never felt it lacked in amenities compared to larger resorts. We would strongly recommend a stay.

 Belle semaine!

 FABULOUS - Simply Fabulous

One of the nicest resorts we have stayed at. From the moment we checked in until the moment we left, the staff was simply superb... The food at the Lotus Leaf restaurant is fabulous During our week long stay we had the same waiter (Kenroy)who went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, my wife was so taken by one of the dishes served and wanted the recipe, before we left Kenroy delivered. Would we go back there... absolutely, It's the perfect size, not so big and mobbed with people, it's small and comfortable. We have stayed at 3 hotels in Negril (including this one) and this is the one we'd go back to. The Pool area which is looked after by Ian... everyday he made sure we had our exact chairs... in the same place everyday... a really nice touch, he even gave us a CD gift the day we left.
Can't say enough about this place and their staff.

Yah Man !

Our first stay at Sunset at the Palms was great

Our first time in Jamaica and we really enjoyed ourselves. We travel quite a bit and we found it to be fantastic. The staff at the resort were so friendly and they always went out of their way to make you feel at home. The food was really good as well. We chose this resort because it was a smaller scale and we found you did not have to line up like cattle to get your food or drinks. We would definitely recommend this resort to our family and friends.

Thank you!
