Ocho Rios

the staff were wonderful...they worked extremely hard to make sure we had a good time, and we did. the sand and beach were equally fantastic. There were 5 of us (my wife, kids, and mom) and everyone had fun. The only negative was the food...it was ok some days and not so great others. There was also a lack of variety.

This is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful, parklike setting. We stayed in the A block, closest to the beaches. The room was newly renovated, and had a very big bathroom. The older blocks apparently have somewhat smaller bathrooms and larger balconies, but we went to the beach! There are two beaches here, one regular, and one nude beach. The nude beach was our favourite, very relaxed, no issues about body type or size (we are both on the big side). There is a wonderful pool/bar/lunch counter there, so you can just stay all day. There are three restaurants on the property, two of which need reservations for dinner, make those when you check in. Much of the seating is outdoors, with fixed roofs making it very Covid safe. There are two theme nights during the week which are big buffets. Seating for these is at tables on the lawn. There is also room service. There are various watercraft you can borrow for free, and you can go for scuba and snorkel trips as well. They have a bunch of activities if you like to do that (yoga, aquafit, various games at the pools) but if you just want to chill there is lots of place to do that too. There are several bars open at various times (pool bars during the day, others at night), some of which have entertainment. We mainly went to the Martini bar before supper. Very relaxed, nice place to meet up with folks, or just with your partner.

Ocean was a 10. Too bad the hotel and staff were a 5. Booked two rooms for a family of 4 - 2 teenage daughters and didn't get what we booked. Brought this matter to their attention and they could have cared less. House keeping did not make the rooms up on 2 if not 3 days. Given the run around including our fabulous travel agent who when we contacted she attempted to call the resort and kept getting transferred to the PR dept. if you want to over pay and be ignored book this place. Would never go back to a MOON PALACE property because of this.

For people complaining about this hotel, and that its dated and old, well, think about how its seaside and constantly battling against the elements. I think its in great condition considering how old it is and how freqently it battles the sea air, the hurricanes, etc. The staff do as best as they can to make sure its taken care of. You can tell the love that is put into this building. I like the small resort better than a large one. It also wasnt full when we were there, so there were no long lines, few people to contend with for primo spots at the pool or the beach. The staff for the most part were lovely (some of the people working the buffet seamed miserable) but otherwise we were welcomed. We were given a room on the first floor initially that smelled damp and there was broken glass on the floor, but the staff quickly got my family into another room on another floor and gave us a hotel credit to use the gift shop, etc. We were well taken care of. All in all a wonderful vacation. The food was good, no one got sick and everyone was sad to leave. In rush hour, the trek to the hotel is about 2.5 hours, so if you have little ones, be prepared. There is a stop if needed, but the driving of the bus drivers was SKETCHY and we almost crashed a few times on the way back to the hotel. Probably the worst part of the stay was the trf from Airport to hotel.

Awful!! Outdated!! Cold management!! I reserved for a week on Friday snd arrived on Sunday, they didn't have my reservation in their system because their office closes on the weekends. So I get to the front desk with my suitcases and my printouts of my booking and the lady at the desk tells me she can't find my reservation I'm not in the system. She left me hanging there for a few seconds until I asked ´ok, but I'm here now so what are my options? What do ee do now???? She asked me to pay for the night untill they sort it out the next day. Ok so I paid for that first night even dough I had all of my proofs of booking. I had booked an ocean view room and they put me in a parking lot view room. I argued with them that this is not the room described on my booking that was supposed to have the nice ocean view, hairdryer and flat screentv with cable!?! They said that this is what I had booked and that I could still see a tiny bit of the ocean pass the gazebo of the parking lot. After complaining for 2 days they finally changed our room. But I had to get my travel agency representative talk to them because they didn't hear me. The hotel is outdated, need renos ASAP. Plumbing is rough no pressure when you flush the toilet and the water temperature changes when you shower constantly from warm to burning hot or warm to cold. It's stressful!!Be ready for an experience! I will never go there again!!! My husband is Jamaican and this is by far the worst place we've stayed in Jamaica. 100$ us per night? Ridiculous!! You could have better for less money. The owners of this place don't care about their guests it is obvious. I'm providing you with some pictures of my ´ocean view room' and of the furniture getting eaten vu termites. Ah yeah I forgot to mention, they have termites in their furniture.
