[Details]

The strong points
Service impeccable. Personnel courtois et efficace! Propreté des lieux exceptionnel! Nourriture délicieuse et abondante toute la journée! Mer magnifique! Hôtel décoré avec goût! Nous avons beaucoup aimé! Nous le recommandons assurément!
The weak points
Il fait trop chaud dans le centre de conditionnement physique. Et... Les gens qui réservent des chaises toute la journée mais qu'on ne voient pas. Tellement irrespectueux!!! Mais, c'est malheureusement le cas dans la majorité des resorts!

Excellent service & food

My spouse and I resided at the GR Caribe by Solaris Hotel in Cancun for one week (Jan. 31st to Feb. 7th). Check in at the Hotel was quick and efficient. The concierge (Memor) explained well the important locations/opening times with a hotel ground map. Our room (5th floor, North side) was nice & clean. We had 3 windows (horizontal faux bois blinds (no darkening curtains)) in our room with a King size bed and a small sitting area . The washroom was complete with a large walk in shower (the shower head was the rain fall type(no tub)), sink, toilet, hair dryer, towel drying rack, retractable magnification mirror. We always had hot water & good water pressure. The wardrobe with three doors had: a code lock safe (no charge), iron/ironing board, shelves, spare blanket, 3 drawers, 7 wood hangars. The flat screen TV had approx. 45 channels and worked fine. There was a mixture of Spanish & English channels (CNN, movies, TV series…). The air conditioning was powerful/cold and quiet. There was also a ceiling fan with a light. Our maid service was excellent; Selene created different towel/bed spread ornaments every day of our stay. We had our fridge (water 6 X 500 ml water bottles, 4 small beers(190ml) & 4 soft drinks) & bathroom items replenished when needed. A coffee maker is provided. We never saw an insect/bug in our room. The corridors in the building are well lit and kept clean. The elevators are quick and modern. There are many step up & down (stairs) at this hotel but there are handicap ramps to assist those in need. The food was very good at all the locations we ate: Cafe Solaris for breakfast in the morning had: eggs, omelets, pancakes, waffles, syrup, bacon, meats, cheeses, jams, fresh fruits, bread/croissants/cakes, juices, etc… For lunch, we always ate at the pool snack bar and enjoyed Elena (the Chef) cooking (chicken, borritos, hamburgers, hotdogs, pizzas...), there is also chicken fingers, onion rings, fried fish, wedge potatoes, nachos with cheese, Chili, salsa, and many types of salads, vegetables, olives, small eggs.... You can go to the Bogavente A la Carte restaurant near the pool area or walk to the buffet next door at the Royal Solaris hotel (we were satisfied with the pool bar food for lunch). For dinner, there is the Bogavente and Veneto A La Carte restaurants (unlimited reservations) at our hotel, we attended both and enjoyed our dinners. The appetizers, main courses, house wine & deserts were all delicious & the service was excellent. There is also the Main buffet at the Royal Solaris hotel (short walk on property). At the buffet you will find a variety of soups, meats (2 Chefs stations with different meats), cold cuts, pastas, fish, potatoes, rice, vegetables, cheeses, pickles, breads, fruits, ice cream, desserts, etc.... We enjoyed the Dinner buffet food variety and ate there most of the time. The service at the bars was excellent and everyone received their service with a smile. There were many washrooms on the grounds and some near the beach area. All washrooms were kept clean and had all the items needed. On many occasions, I observed employees monitoring the cleanliness of the washrooms. We were always able to change our beach towels when needed (located in pool area). There was a nice gym (Royal Solaris hotel) with equipment that was modern and working AC. I only visited the SPA location, I found it to be nice and relaxing. The pool at this resort was kept clean. We usually got to the beach at around 08:15 hrs. and we were always able to obtain long chairs. A waiter walks the Hotel beach area and takes your drink orders. The beach is beautiful. The sand is whitish, a little coarse and the water is a clear turquoise (blueish/green ). We found the Sea to be a little rough and most days the red or yellow flags were posted. The location of the Hotel is good for beach walkers (a little tough due to coarse sand). You can walk North or South. We did not attend any night shows. The guests are mostly from USA, South America and Canada. All were pleasant and respectful of others. The hotel is quiet, no loud music/noise at night. There are gardeners working hard to keep the grounds beautiful with the landscape ornaments/shrubs/trees. The hard working hotel personnel are all wonderful, friendly and pleasant & give you very good service with a smile. My spouse and I strongly recommend this hotel. We are planning on returning to the GR Caribe by Solaris Hotel, Cancun in a near future as we had a relaxing vacation with excellent service. To mention only a few employees (we forgot some names), we would like to say a big Thank You for your smiling and excellent service to: our maid: Selene and for Breakfast at the Cafe: Nubia & Ricky, for Lunch at the snack bar: Elena the Chef and pool/beach waiters: Jazmin, Ismael, for dinner at the buffet: Jacqueline, Eli(Elizabeth), Rogelio, Nicholas and our two servers at the A la Carte restaurants (Sorry to the others who we forgot the names...).
