We had a great vacation here. The resort is clean, the staff friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the food especially the Asian restaurant. The beach is easy to walk. The biggest draw back are the bands that play everyday in the afternoon. There are 5-6 mariachi bands that play on the beach. Not employed by the RIU and once across the rope on the beach it's public so it's a free for all. In my opinion the RIU should pay the bands not to play to keep their customers happy!

Buffet not so good even the specialty restaurants. The only good one was the Italian cuisine. Room not so clean so is the bathroom. For the price that we paid, we expected a decent bedroom and bathroom. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody.

Very nice resort. Great location. Beautiful beach and views!! Staff was very professional and friendly!! The a' la carte restaurants were top of line!!! The buffets could be better and more selections!! I was there for two weeks and enjoyed myself!!! Will definitely be going back!!!

I will start by saying this is our 24th time to Mexico and we are casual, not fussy travelers, so for someone wanting 5 star in Mexico this is not the place for you. However someone that loves the Mexican culture, food and people this is a great place for you! I will go thru the great, good and bad from our experience of staying in the Star Palace resort.

We spent a week at this hotel and had a great time. The hotel was extremely good value for the price we paid. Our stay at the hotel was all-inclusive however you can stay without opting for the all-inclusive package. Although I have noted some weak points, they were relatively minor to us and did not negatively impact our stay. The strong points definitely outweighed the weak points. The hotel is quite new (built in 2016 I believe) and is very well looked after. The rooms are spacious and have a great bathroom with large shower. There was always plenty of hot water. There is also a small kitchenette with full size fridge, microwave, and sink which was very handy. The hotel is located on the beachfront however the main road into town is just outside the front door and provides easy access into town by walking, by bus or car. There are lots of restaurants and stores nearby. The hotel pool is quite small as is the seating area around it so can get a little crowded, As there are 2 other hotels on the same site and 1 a short walk away that are all managed by the same company, there are however other pools to choose from. The beach outside the hotel was quite wide and flat and you could walk for miles. No problems with seaweed or rocks. The ocean was generally calm early in the day and would get rougher later in the day as the wind got stronger. The water was very shallow and only got gradually deeper so you could walk out quite a way into the water. Our all-inclusive package included a la carte dinners at restaurants in our hotel and the other related hotels. The food in each of them was very good. We also ate at the buffet restaurant and although fairly small, there was still a great selection of food and you would never go hungry. For breakfast we had the choice of a few buffet restaurants and opted for omelettes most days, always a good choice. For lunch the restaurant in our hotel was great and we loved the shrimp quesadillas. We would definitely recommend this hotel and area.

Very clean hotel. Staff were very helpful with anything asked of them.Poolside lunches were very tasty and well cooked. We only had 1 supper and it was cold with poorly timed service.The shower leaked like a sieve.Needs new door seal. Apart from the supper I would recommend this hotel.But there are lots of other places to eat.

It was a great place to stay considering the construction going on . The restrents were good but there was no entertainment. Overall it was ok.
